Summary Tufts Medical Center (TMC) and the Tufts University School of Medicine are seeking a Chair of Dermatology. The ideal candidate will be an academic physician executive recognized for clinical excellence, teaching, and leadership, with the skills to lead a department in a major quaternary medical center.

The Opportunity The Chair will report to the Dean of the Medical School and oversee all academic programs, including appointments and promotions. This role reflects the importance of the Department of Dermatology at TMC. The new Chair will sustain a tradition of clinical excellence, innovation, and teaching, contributing to clinical research and the growth of the clinical trials program.

Key Responsibilities The Chair must be an inspirational leader prepared to ensure excellence in the dermatology training program and maintain access for referring physicians. They will lead the academic mission and collaborate with affiliated teaching hospitals.

Ideal Candidate

  • Rank of Professor or equivalent with a robust academic portfolio, including research and clinical trials.

  • Proven management experience (e.g., Program or Division Director).

  • Ability to enhance clinical effectiveness and patient experience.

  • Charismatic communicator capable of influencing across interdependencies.

  • Experience in faculty recruitment and program development.
