The practice presently includes 4 locations in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. The CAO will be expected to travel to the other locations as needed. Blacksburg, VA is home to Virginia Tech University with outstanding restaurants, culture, recreation, shopping, highly rated schools and lower cost of living than other parts of Virginia and consistently rated one of the best places to live in the US.
This position reports directly to the 3-physician board. The practice currently has 6 physicians, 9 APPs and 2 aestheticians plus rotating fellows. Physicians are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology care to our patients and providing resident and fellowship education.
Overall responsibilities are to oversee finances; contracting with leases, payors and vendors; explore, analyze and recommend new business opportunities to diversify revenue streams; maintain and grow hospital and referring physician relationships; cost/benefit analysis of equipment purchases; compliance; oversee clinical operations; revenue cycle; and HR. Direct reports are two office managers.
Skills Desired: Executive analytical skills, honesty and integrity, complex problem-solving, and systems-based thinking are critical to this role. Specific skills include:
- Financial analysis/cost benefit analysis with well researched facts.
- Expertise in both clinical and non-clinical operations.
- Ability to manage and motivate staff while delivering superlative customer service.
- Negotiation skills.
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively and persuasively with physicians and staff.
- Ability to recruit and retain quality employees.
- Assistance with physician recruitment
- Product sales management
- Accounting/finance knowledge is desired.
- Revenue Cycle oversight experience is essential.
- EMR knowledge essential
- Multi-tasking and strong organization skills required.
- MBA or MHA is a plus.
- Dermatology experience is also a plus, but not mandatory.
Requirements: At least eight years of healthcare top level management directly reporting to physicians with some years of working directly with physicians. Please do not apply if you do not have healthcare management experience.
